Derek, you hit the nail on the head. We updated the Athena cell
fileservers to allow stock Transarc clients to work, at one point, but
it appears that the fishwrap cell never was updated. In the latest
Athena release, we are using AFS 3.3a clients, and I did not bother to
re-integrate the workaround for my overly-cautious server code back into
the clients (it was a server bug), because I thought all offending
servers had been updated. I guess I was wrong.
Pascal was asking me about 3.3 servers awhile ago, and I informed him
when the 3.3a servers were complete (end of December).
The solution is to upgrade the fishwrap cell to a later version, either
the fixed 3.2 version or 3.3a.
