Hi Grant,
I've been forwarded this bug report from you:
>I've been using MacZephyr from home on an ARA connection. The application
>frequently freezes on initialization. The window that usually asks for my
>password flickers quickly, not responding to the command-period. Other
>MacTCP and Kerberos applications I use, work fine. Any thoughts or ideas
>would be appreciated.
This is a known bug in MacZephyr 1.1 .
The only way I know to stop it from happening is to re-install your system
files (this has worked for several users with the problem), but I
understand that you may not want to go through the hassle of doing this
just for MacZephyr's sake.
I think the flashing authentication window happens when the system files on
a Mac are slightly corrupted (this is why reinstalling the system fixes the
problem) - MacZephyr has an unusual sensitivity to this, for reasons which
are not quite clear to me. (Usually your system does not even have to be
"corrupt" enough for anything else to notice, so don't worry that your
system or other files are in danger.)
I don't think its related to using MacZephyr over ARA.
I am working on an update to MacZephyr 1.1, which will hopefully resolve
this problem. Until then, please accept my apologies that MacZephyr does
not work on your system, and I will send an announcement when a replacement
is ready. (If you do re-install your system, please send a note saying
whether this worked or not.)
