What were you trying to do?
  use matlab

What's wrong:
  I get this, and then the window disappears:

Invalid passcode.
Check date and passcodes in MATLAB FEATURE line of
/mit/matlab/Matlab4.2/etc/license.dat.  Check hostid in SERVER line.

What should have happened:
  matlab should have started.  I don't think it's due to the 
# of licences, because the guy next to me just started matlab
okay.
