I just telnetted in from an athena workstation to sofa, and got:
% telnet sofa
...including Athena's default telnet options: "-ax"
Trying 18.177.0.231...
Connected to sofa.
Escape character is '^]'.

This seems like a problem. First of all,
telnet> encrypt status
Currently encrypting output with DES_CFB64
Currently decrypting input with DES_CFB64
but it didn't say anything about "what you type is protected by encryption"...
Second, it can't access the tty at all... Something weird is going on here...
Extremely weird. I type things and don't get responses until I type in some
dummy characters. Overall, I'd say telnetd for the rs/6k is broken...
Hmm... I wonder if this could be related to the fact that sofa is... nope.
It's still got public-rssys attached, not beta-rssys. It hasn't rebooted or
updated since I got the hesiod change made. If you need data on the latest
release, I can update sofa and get back to you after that... I have been
planning on doing the AIX 3.2.5 thing sometime.
