The behavior of add follows from the behavior of attach -p -- under
those conditions, attach -p does not return a mountpoint that add can
use. Therefore, the old add behaved that way as well.

It's my guess that this attach behavior was a decided one, because
under these conditions, since it didn't actually attach what you
requested, _anything_ might be sitting at the end of that path, and
you may very much _not_ wish attach to behave without an error
condition in this case.

If you know better than attach what you want, there may be an option
to attach to override this behavior, but I'm too tired to check right
now. But if there is, you can specify the flag to attach via add as
in:

	add -a -fooflag windowmanagers
