What were you trying to do?
print to the printer in this cluster (at the
Huntington Avenue dormitory). The name of the
printer is fingerprint (alias fp). I entered the
following command:
athena% finger Erin@athena | lpr
The computer promptly returned the following error
message:
lpr: default: default: unknown printer
I was then able to print when I specified the printer:
athena% finger Erin@athena | lpr -Pfp
This worked.
What's wrong:
The computers in the Huntington Avenue cluster are
apparently not configured to regard fingerprint
as their default printer.
What should have happened:
Since fingerprint is the only Athena printer within
a mile, it should have printed to fingerprint
(as the default printer) when given just an lpr
command.
