In fact, that crontab entry does NOT traverse all mounted
packs/partitions.
The line itself (which you should have provided with your original bug
report) reads:
15 4 * * * root find / -xdev -name core -mtime +7 -exec rm -f {} ';'
As Ken Raeburn pointed out, the "-xdev" prevents the find from going
off of the disk partition on which the argument given to it resides.
It's in the man page (Well, it is on the VAX, but non on the RT, but
that's another question entirely.).
