There is a cleanup script that runs and carefully detaches all attach ed
filesystems when nobody is using them.

Why then is it allowed to happen, that a machine staying logged in for a
long time (for example to telnet remotely and build a database that has
taken a week to build),
that the information about what is attached is blown away by the program
that cleans the tmp areas?

This is BAD implementation.

That this happens with the window gram file is inconvenient, but could
be allowed to persist because it is not important enough to do properly.

But all manner of inconsistencies can creep into the system if the
attach table is blown away.

This is a serious bug, should be simple to fix, and should be FIXED ASAP!
