What were you trying to do?
Get my machine back to running normally again with layered
athena 7.7. In particular, I tried to log in, and half my session
wasn't there!
What's wrong:
Some programs were missing from the release, and also it wound
up without system packs so incoming mail failed. In particular, both
shutdown_notify (which I reported already) and zshutdown_notify were
not linked in when layered_athena installed. Also, when I came in
this morning, the system packs were not attached! I had to manually
run reactivate to get /srvd attached! This shouldn't ever be the
case! /srvd should always be attached.
What should have happened:
Programs that the system expects to be there should be there,
and the system packs should never not be attached (I think its ok to
detach and reattach them, but it should be sure to reattach).
Please describe any relevant documentation references:
Common sense? My old 7.6 release? My sanity?
