Hi there...
About your bug report: there is a known interaction with a possible
bug in the sipb locker's `rz' and the telnetd running on the dialup
machines. While this is being investigated (unfortuantely, there aren't
many people in either group who are very knowledgeable about zmodem right
now), for now what you want to do is this:
Instead of logging in to the dialups by typing ``athena'' or ``express'' or
whatever, you instead should use: ``rlogin athena'' or ``rlogin express''
or similar. This will log you in using the rlogin protocol rather than the
telnet protocol, and thus should avoid the interactions with the dialup
telnetd. You need only do this for file transfers, or you can do this
all the time - the differences should be minimal (actually, they should be
unnoticable, but I'm not sure that they appear completely the same in all
cases).
Another option is to use kermit, which is supported by IS staff. There is
a `windowing kermit' client that allows for very fast tranfers in the modem
locker, but I'm unsure which Macintosh kermit clients support this feature
(if any).
If you have any other problems with zmodem, you'll probbaly want to cc them
to bug-sipb, the mailing list sipb uses to track problems with the sipb locker
software.
Thanks for your report,
chad
