Ok, I understand the model better now. Thank you. And I now that I
get a little further, I have more questions.
Thanks in particular for the "-k" hint. I did have a krb.realms file,
but I didn't have "MIT.EDU" with the right combination of dots.
I didn't know about the "what you type is protected by encryption."
Good idea, but you should document this. I know it's a telnetd
feature, but ktelnet and ktelnetd will probably be used together
(otherwise what's the point).
But...why do I need password at all? Don't I already have tickets?
I would have thought that was good enough for the dialin.
You say ktelnet is a modified BSD 4.4 telnet, yet the DISPLAY variable
(per RFC 1096) is not passed. The telnetd documentation mentions the
XDISPLOC option, but it doesn't happen for me. (I know, I know, don't
make X connections from the Athena dialups. I wasn't going to; I just
have an interest in seeing telnet support X fully.)
Why do I get the message
/afs/athena.mit.edu/user/g/i/gildea: Permission denied
when I connect? After I login, I only get a temporary directory.
When I connect via normal telnet, I get my home directory just fine.
