in 7.7I on the sun discussd is owned by builder in the rel-eng cell.
As a result I got the following error when I updated my sun, and ran
mkserv discuss (the first two lines are normal):
Updating out of date /var/server/usr/athena/etc/discussd .
Copying to /var/server/usr/athena/etc/discussd from /srvd/usr/athena/etc/discussd, mode is 00755.
Error copying /var/server/usr/athena/etc/discussd: chown failed: Invalid argument
