I suspect we lost here (and on all of the public workstations) because
the update script ran against the _old_ devices, rather than the new
ones, when the whole update through G ran at once. I'm guessing that
/dev/audio in the source for the new devices was not chmoded 666...
In addition, should not /dev/audioctl have been chmoded as well?
