What were you trying to do?
Look at my grades.
What's wrong:
SIS told me my GPA for classes whose grades have been entered
and how many credits I received so far (under "GPA Audit"),
but then when I went to look at each of the individual grades,
it gave me an error and didn't display any of them.
Then when I tried again a little later, the program locked up
my workstation (the X server was stalling or something) when
I chose "GPA Audit". I was able to iconify the window and regain
control only because I have a hotkey in my window manager to
iconify windows...
What should have happened:
I assume this is a problem on the server side and not the client,
dealing with the fact that the database is being modified.
SIS should *not* barf when students are trying to see their grades,
*especially* now, when they first become available and we're most
interested and anxious, and it should
NOT give partial information. (From what it says about my GPA,
I am concerned and I want to know which class I didn't do so well
in. I'd rather have it not give me any info than hide certain info.)
Whoever's maintaining the database: If you're going to provide
this service to students, PLEASE make it more reliable. I want
to be able to see information as soon as it is entered in the
database and there's no excuse for things being "hidden" because
they're under construction (if it can't show me the new information,
it should show me all the information it has which is complete)
or causing the application (and my window manager) to hang.
