Hello,
I have been looking into your bug report about editing Xess plots rebooting
workstations. I will need more information in order to be able to proceed.
First: is the problem reproducible? Does it happen with all plots or only
certain plots? If it is reproducible, can you give me a detailed sequence
of commands in Xess that will cause it so I can see it myself? (If it
doesn't happen with every plot, could you copy one that causes it to my
Public folder (alexp@mit.edu))?
I also want to make sure I have the right Xess version (we have being setting
up the new 3.0 version of Xess, and it has been available for a while now in
the xess3 or xess3.0 lockers); did you get to xess by the usual "add xess;
xess" command (which would give you the current default 2.1 version)?
When you say you "first noticed it last week": do you think this is something
that was not happening before?
Finally: does this happen on certain machines (i.e. in a single cluster) or
on all machines? What about machine type- you mention DEC and IBM; do you
see it on Suns too?

> I first noticed this last week. I tried on three different machines (a DEC50>00, IBM Powerstation, and DEC3100). At first the rebooting would happen only >when I opened a certain plot and attempted to edit the data ranges. I decided> to ignore that plot, but it also happens when I attempt to edit other plots.
