If I knew more about this problem I'd write a letter to the editor,
but I don't. I hope you can investigate it.

What is wrong with the Athena mail servers? My roommate tells me that
they've been thrashing for weeks. He said part of the reason is the
large amount of foreign e-mail which gets sent and often bounced back.
Apparently in one instance a few weeks ago, a small country cut their
internet link because of activity on an MIT mailing list, where the
people on the list were planning a coup d'etat! Athena users have
experienced missing and delayed mail problems for weeks, and now
Athena temporarily disabled the "from" command. What's going on?

I am upset that the people at Athena are not informing its users of
the problem. If they could just say, "Look, we're having mail
problems. Please cut down on e-mail use," then the problem would get
better, not worse. I think it's rude to keep the community uninformed.

...Satyen
