OK... It just happened again... so here is a clearer bug report.

I'm using TechMail 1.02 for Windows.

I had 35 messages in my inbox.

I did F2 (Get Mail).

I got three dialog boxes in a row while the status bar at the bottom said
that it was parsing the inbox... they each said "Punting bad message" and
offered only an "OK".

TechMail went on to get one new message from the POP server.

When the new message was added to the inbox, messages 26, 27, and 28 became
"?? ?? Unknown ... Bad header, punted message".

The first few lines of one of the messages is:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
?? ~?? BAD HEADER

The following intensely stimulating text books are FREE to anyone
who wants to come over to Rotch Circ and claim them.

From what I can see, all of the messages "punted" were messages that had
been deleted, but not yet "commited".

Hope this helps!
