What were you trying to do?
This is a problem that I have noticed on many of the Sparc
stations which were installed a while ago. They sometimes doen't
seem to respond to their address as they should. Specifically,
when I tried redirecting the xwindow from emacs to them they don't
respond.
Here is what I do (which works on other machines without problem):
xhost sputnik.mit.edu
rlogin sputnik.mit.edu
setenv DISPLAY m37-312-23:0.0
emacs
incidently, the alternative address (18.78.0.157:0.0) seems to work
fine. Also, the problem doesn't appear to occur with all programs.
So far I have noted problems with emacs, and talk.
