What were you trying to do?
Specifically I was trying to use XV to view a picture, but also, when my system was starting up I encountered the same problem.
What's wrong:
It seems that the colormap is not working because when I logged in I received messages such as "
10:14 Warning: Cannot allocate colormap entry for "grey99"
10:14 Warning: Cannot allocate colormap entry for background, setting background to white
10:14 Warning: Cannot allocate colormap entry for "CadetBlue1"
"
I received similar messages with xclock, xload, xscreensaver.
Also, XV could not apply all the colors that I wanted to a picture that I wanted to view.
What should have happened:
I should have found colormap entries for purple, orange, etc.
