If I recall correctly, when I had the problem on the Sun,
someone suggested to me that I change some switch that had to do with
whether X sent the entire image to the Xterm each time, or it was "stored"
on the Xterm; the latter being faster, but requireing much more memory.
I never had time to persue the issue and I doubt that this is relevant
in the context of Athena, except that a "simple" fix may be to simply
put more memory on the machines. A test along these lines may at least
be of diagnostic use however. Thanks, karl
