An update on where we are at with the "xwd image importing problem" in
FrameMaker: Frame is working on trying to reproduce it (I can but they
can't; it may depend on the version of ULTRIX- theirs is different from
ours).
I have never seen the problem on a Sun, and it also doesn't seem to show
up when running on a Sun and displaying on a DECstation (if you can verify
or contradict the latter let me know).
I don't think that FrameMaker will be able to read compressed images in
the near future, but it's a good suggestion and I will pass it on.
As for your comment about Mathematica images: I think I also saw images
that were "too big" with one format (don't recall which, maybe Encapsulated
PostScript); but I think I tried xwd dumps and that these worked fine (when
the bug doesn't strike!).
I will let you know when I know more.
