What were you trying to do?
Rebind caps lock to control:
xmodmap - <<EOF
remove Lock = Caps_Lock
add Control = Caps_Lock
EOF
What's wrong:
In theory, this should work. In practice, Xnews makes the key
into a control modifier key, but the lock-ness sticks. So, the key
turns into Control-Lock. Kind of interesting, but basically useless.
What should have happened:
The same thing as on every other X server.
Workaround:
remove Lock = Caps_Lock
keysym Caps_Lock = Control_R
add Control = Control_R
