This is very strange. Here is what happened: The console window said
"Waiting for workstation to finish activating." After a second the
screen turned white as if I had just logged out. The login welcome
window appeared, and a second later my account started to appear, on top
of the window, which was now framed and named "xlogin." The screensaver
function for xlogin engaged but disengaged when I typed. I typed
ps -ef > strange
and am including the file below. I started to prepare this bug report
when it logged me out. Now I am logged in again normally.

I now discover that the file strange exists but contains nothing in it.
