What were you trying to do?
run whois to get info on a domain
What's wrong:
different platforms default to different whois servers.
DEC uses: rs.internic.net
Sun uses: NIC.DDN.MIL
I believe that the RS6k uses nic.ddn.mil and VAX uses
rs.internic.net, but I haven't confirmed these.
What should have happened:
counsistancy would have been a win.
I think rs.internic.net is probably the right choice.
Please describe any relevant documentation references:
I understand that certain things need to differ between
platforms; I can't see why this should be one of them tho.
