bugs & jis: We've been noticing some problems lately where name
service for LCS sometimes goes away. Stan was looking into this
earlier tonight; don't know how far he got, but he didn't find the
cause of the problem.

I just ran into this situation again on multics. Restarting does get
name service back. I dumped out the cache before and after
restarting, so I have a little more info:

While BROKAW.LCS.MIT.EDU is listed as an LCS nameserver with timeout
of all 9's (minus some elapsed time), the others (allspice, xx, blee)
have much shorter lifetimes. The info on brokaw was about 47 or 48
hours old in my cache (<all 9's> minus the time left in cache), no
others were listed. A couple of LCS hosts were there, but they had
timed out. Note that the MIT.EDU nameservers (strawb in particular)
do not list brokaw at all.

Running bindtest directly to brokaw does yield information, but for
some reason named was not retrieving it.

I'll look at it a bit more....
