Pnews on dial-up machines

I think I was able to use the new version of Pnews on marinara
(different prompt for distribution, new option for spell checking), but
not for more than a day. When I'm prompted for a file to include, before
I can enter anything, the script takes over, says something like sh: can not
find/open b, then it sends a lot of garbage on my screen and finally,
before I have the chance to read any of this, my Macintosh crashes! and
I'm prompted to restart it. The connection (via digital MIT phone) remains
open and I can recover my login session if the first thing I do is hit
ctrl-Z. Once I used fg to proceed, I was able to edit a file to be posted,
but got the same problem when I reached the "check, send, edit, list" prompt.
I tried posting using the f option on rn, but that had the same
results. The bottom line is that I don't think there is any way one
can post anything on Usenet through a dial-up machine, specifically marinara.
Thanks for looking into the problem.
