I just reread the message - it was with a sun 7.3 machine.
Someone needs to test if
a) It happens on different subnets or just the one you are testing -
there may be a misconfigured machine on the subnet.
b) Run a netwatch - that would answer if there is a flooding effect
causing the overload.
