What were you trying to do?
a user ftp-ed to puttanesca, but when idled for too long was disconected.
However finger or w still shows the user logged in on an ftp session. This
would not be a problem except that puttancesa only allows a limited number of
users and these ftp sessions that are not in use are being counted as users
thereby further limiting the number of people who can use the machine.
Like I said, this was not a problem with regular dialups because the extra
logins were of no consequence. It is currently a problem because they count
towards the maximum number of users.
