Hi Tim,

I'll try to answer your questions about AutoCAD as best I can. You
asked:

>who maintains this program?

In general, Academic Computing Services (ACS, a group in I/S) maintains
third party software packages. In specific, I, as one of the four
Faculty Liaisons in ACS, maintain AutoCAD on Athena. However, use of
AutoCAD is strictly supported within the confines of a course -- we
don't have any experts here who can answer detailed questions.

If you think you have found a real bug, and not just a question about
using the software, the correct thing to do is (as you did) use the
sendbug command.

As for your reported bug, I hate to use the word, but it is really a
"feature", or rather, a consequence of the interaction between AutoCAD
and the distributed Athena system. The designers of AutoCAD never
envisioned AFS, the remote file system we use here at Athena, and
consequently, the file selection dialog box is basically broken.
(choosing .. numerious times or the / item has the same effect as trying
to do an "ls /afs" - it takes a very long time). I personally never use
these options to choose a file, but rather use the "Type It" button to
allow myself to type the full pathname to the file I want to use.

I hope this helps,
