Actually, by default, there should be six processes on most
workstations:
- 4 I/O buffer daemons
- 2 special daemons for dealing with callbacks, etc.

On the RISC/6000, additional daemons are necessary.  For every buffer
daemon, there is also a support daemon, which they call a biod.  That
accounts for 10 of the 14 processes (8 I/O, 2 special).  I forgot
off-hand what the additional 4 are, but I know that 14 is the correct
number.  If you really want, I can research what all of them are... I do
know that the behavior of afsd is correct for the RISC/6000.
