The directory on MIT.EDU is not new, though it has gained more visibility.
We have always had the problem that there are two different directories
each with some unique functions of their own. What is somewhat of a problem
is that the directory on athena.mit.edu does not have the restrictions
agreed upon with the personnel/registrar's office and the privacy
committee. A decision has to be made at some point as to what the status of
the athena directory is and what to do with it. Frankly, we haven't had
time to think about it much.
