decmips 7.6F: mailhub header listserv bounce

daemon@ATHENA.MIT.EDU (sst@MIT.EDU)
Sun Sep 12 18:39:12 1993

From: sst@MIT.EDU
To: bugs@MIT.EDU
Date: Sun, 12 Sep 93 18:38:48 EDT

System name: w20-575-55
Type and version:	KN02ca 7.6F
Display type: PMAG-DV

What were you trying to do?
Post to a mailing list via the pucc bitnet listserv.

What's wrong:
I got a bounce (appended), due to the default "From:" changing
from sst@athena.mit.edu to sst@mit.edu such that the listserv no longer
recognizes me as a member of the mailing list.

What should have happened:
The mailhub changeover of default addresses should have been
announced in the motd last week, and was supposed to be transparent to
end users of listserv's.

Please describe any relevant documentation references:
Here is the bounce I got, using FOO as the mailing list name.

You are not authorized to mail to list FOO from your sst@MIT.EDU account.
You might be authorized to post to the list from another of your accounts or
under a slightly different address, but LISTSERV has no way to associate this
other account or address with you and is thus rejecting your message. Your
message is being returned to you unprocessed. If you have any question
regarding authorization to use the FOO list, please contact one of the list
owners, whose names and addresses are listed below:
