What were you trying to do?
Use a computer system whose default setup doesn't provide a menu
option for 'shoot yourself in the foot'.
What's wrong:
New users, some of whom aren't native English speakers, click
their left mouse button on the root window and see a menu
entry conveniently marked 'Quit', followed by three cryptic
letters ("MWM") which they happily ignore. They then quit
their window manager, and since they've generally blown away
most of their xterms by this time, they either abandon their
machine or find someone to tell them how to reboot it.
What should have happened:
The default mwm setup should not include a 'Quit' option. The
'Restart' option is suspect, but at least it doesn't hose
people beyond repair.
People who actually do want to quit mwm can do it with a
signal. It's not hard.
