Hi,
Somehow the /dev/null file had been changed to a
regular file (of 0 bytes, owned by myself).
I simply deleted and re-created it (using "mknod
/dev/null c 3 2"), and everything's now back to
normal. I still don't know how the file got
changed, but I guess I was a little jumpy sending
this to bugs etc. so quickly. Sorry.
Unless the problem recurs, I'll assume I caused
it myself somehow last week. False alarm.
Cheers, "Oh boy, virtual memory! Now I'm gonna
John E. make myself a REALLY BIG ram disk!"
