I think I've found the real problem. PageView only crashes when the file
resides in a certain directory (~hftsai/txt/ps/bluebook). I have no idea
what's special about that directory, though.
I tested with imageturkey.ps and my copy of it, 06.ps. (Note that 06.ps
claims to be PostScript Level 2, but actually contains the same
instructions as imageturkey.ps. That's not the problem.) When the files
are in ~hftsai/txt/ps/bluebook, trying to set "Ignore ... Comments" with
the image loaded causes PageView to die. When I moved the files to
/usr/tmp, everything worked. They also worked in the top level of my home
directory (as ~/06.ps and ~/imageturkey.ps). I'm thoroughly puzzled...
