This is on a 7.6 RS/6000 but it isn't a new bug.
I ran dd of=/afs/athena.mit.edu/user/j/f/jfc/nb/tmp/outfile and typed
a few lines. In another window (on another machine) I removed
outfile. Then I typed ^D to dd and it said:
dd: /afs/athena.mit.edu/user/j/f/jfc/nb/tmp/outfile: For future use
The kernel should return a more useful error code.
