Display type: PMAG-DV

What were you trying to do?

	emacs /source/../build/@sys/INSTLOG_0704

What's wrong:

emacs is too smart for my own good.

	It decides the path

		/foo/../bar/baz

	must reduce to

		/bar/baz

which of course isn't true a lot of the time.

What should have happened:

It should be dumber. Or smarter. Either way. No, actually,
it should be dumber. Everything else is dumb enough to
leave the path alone and therefore do the right thing.
I don't need the thing wasting time trying to figure out
	where the symlinks lead twice.

I like my computers fast and dumb. Intelligence is not their
job, nor are they well suited for the task.

Disposition of user:

	Extremely irritated.

Thought for the evening:

If this were a sun, my xterm would die now.
