System name: augmented
Type and version: POWER 7.5B (1 update(s) to same version)
Display type: graygda
What were you trying to do?
What's wrong:
At some point early in my session, I run config_console. To
repeat this, try logging in either with a .xsession file containing
the following lines, or use the "Specify special login" option
to run an executable script with these lines:
config_console
emacs
(You can use "xterm" or anything instead of emacs, if you feel like
it. I've had very bad luck with xterm on RS/6000s because of
pty lossage, so I try not to rely on it myself.)
When config_console is run, the screen will go blank for a few seconds,
and then you will get your window. If you have done things like
load X resources before config_console, that information will be lost
(which leads me to believe the X server really has restarted.)
What should have happened:
The X server should be happy.
