What were you trying to do?
I was using "attach -n -e vance:/users" which works just fine. I was
able to perform read operations perfectly. This used to work for well
over 2 years now, so it is unusual that it stopped working.
What's wrong:
It causes the NFS server to crash in a pretty bad way on any write
action. I haven't changed the config of the servers in well over 6
months. This is not just a single server either, it acts in the same
manner on all of them.
These servers are all running a SYS VR4 variant.
What should have happened:
I should be able to write as well as read.
Please describe any relevant documentation references:
If you decide to futz with my servers, make sure to warn me ahead of
time. That way I can make sure nothing important is running on them.
Has the config of the NFS client system changed recently on athena.
I've only tried a decstation, I will try a vax soon.
