Since you have root access to the server.... You may want to kill off
the mountd and start it by hand with the -d option and see what results
you get.
Also in your report, you indicate that mountd dumps core and then attach
-n -e... works - did you restart the mountd at that time?
Can you copy the core dump somewhere for me to look at?
