Professor Barrett,

As you recall many of the homework files we turned in using
eos during yesterday's class were empty. I'm sorry you didn't receive
my homework. Eos had informed me it had been turned in successfully,
apparently without checking to see if the file was empty.

I will attempt to turn my assignments in again. If this
doesn't work, the commands:

	add darford
	more /mit/darford/21.780/{memo,proposal}

will allow you to read what I have written. Obviously the proposal
you see will be the current draft as of the time you are reading it.
The one I am attempting to submit now hasn't been changed since Monday.

This time, I turned in the memo and proposal by first visiting
the files, then turning them in. Previously, I had simply used the
"Turn In" button, then entered the file name. The "Turn in
Assignment" Window has two buttons on the top which can be used to
specify whether to turn in the (possibly nonexistent) contents of the
current buffer, or a named file. It is very unclear which setting is
either default or current, which may be the source of the problems we
have been having.

I also tested the turnin command with the syntax:

	"turnin 2 essay"

If you find an essay in assignment 2, please delete it and inform me that
I have found a reliable way to turn in my 21.780 homework.

Please note that a copy of this letter is being sent to
bugs@athena, the email account for bug reports.

					Sincerely,
					Darlene Ford
