What you are seeing is not a bug. Jon Rochlis does not have an account
on your machine (unless he logs in) and is not known. finger
rochlis@athena looks up the last name rochlis in what is essentially a
complete list of names of all users. When you "finger jon" you get the
right information because our finger will do the username lookup for
you.
It is not a bug but a design implementation. We do not allow the list of
all users to be made public so hence there are no centralized lists for
an individual workstation to do the lookup on.
