Hi! A lot of times (I'd say about 50% of the time), when I'm
connecting to another machine I will actually get connected, but
there will be no indication of that in my xterm. For example:
mickey-mouse /afs/athena.mit.edu/user/c/a/carla :-) rsh matisse -l root
(and then nothing appears in that window)
If I finger at the other machine, I really am logged in there. ps
shows:
mickey-mouse /afs/athena.mit.edu/user/c/a/carla :-) ps -aux | grep matisse

Nothing I type (return, ^c, ^z, ^q, ^d) in the window where I did rsh
has any effect. If I kill off the processes I'll get my prompt back,
and redoing the rsh command usually gets me in with no problem. It
happened today with matisse and zeus, which I think are both RTs.
As you may have guessed, this is not a critical problem for me.
