With about 16,000 zephyrs in owl, accumulated over many days on
multics.mit.edu, if I do a backwards search it takes forever. My
hypothesis is that this isn't an algorithm problem so much as a problem
with most of owl having been paged out. So while better locality of
reference might help (dunno, I haven't looked at the code, maybe it's
already fine) I think the real solution is interruptible searches. Or
maybe for me to run owl on a machine with less memory pressure. :-)
