I believe you are referring to NFS (Network File System)
under Solaris 1 is uses IP/udp packets under Solaris 2
is can use IP/udp or IP/tcp packets.
NFS over IP/tcp is a little more slower then NFS over IP/udp but
it is good for a slight increase in security and add functionality/useabli=
ty
over a long hall network.
Note that 4.4bsd also supports NFS over IP/tcp (that is BSDI, NetBSD,
FreeBSD, and Linix) which [imop] are a far more complete and reliable
OS's then Solaris 2.
As for NFS over IP/tcp I am not sure if this can be simply added to the
Solaris 1 kernal =
