A couple of months ago I announced on this list a version
of fingerd that did logging, had access control lists, and
had a bunch of other features. The new version of fingerd
is available at ftp://ftp.foobar.com/pub/finger.tar.gz.
If you got version 1.1 you should get the new version cause it fixed
a few bugs, and has a lot of new features.
