My apologies for not acting on this sooner. The ~ escape trick doesn't
work under the operating system I wrote and tested it on
(SunOS 4.x), which, I'm guessing, doesn't allow that if mail isn't
being run from a TTY. (A good decision on their part.)
I will fix the code immediately, either to use sendmail or to properly
protect against the ~ trick, with a warning as well that mailers with
nonstandard escapes and the like may still be a problem.
