This of course leads to interesting failure modes if the reader of the mail
has a home directory that he doesn't have write permission to, or isn't
mounted at the moment, or similar.

Hint: How do you use Pine to send the sysadmin a "Help! /home didn't fsck
right after the reboot" message in this scenario? ;)
