RedHat has put out an update to the ping package that fixes a number of
potentially precarious problems (see=20
http://www.redhat.com/support/errata/RHSA-2000-087-02.html for more
information on this problem.)

I have built packages for this update for Immunix OS 6.2 (StackGuarded
versions of the RedHat packages.) They can be found at:

http://www.immunix.org:8080/ImmunixOS/6.2/updates/RPMS/iputils-20001010-1.6=
x_StackGuard.i386.rpm

and for people who would like to peruse the problem program, the source:

http://www.immunix.org:8080/ImmunixOS/6.2/updates/SRPMS/iputils-20001010-1.=
6x_StackGuard.src.rpm

md5sums of the packages:

a2ca041fcf413ca9f6f1a3a339baede2 iputils-20001010-1.6x_StackGuard.i386.rpm
c0d64b6073f345f5d70f9e00e566e1be iputils-20001010-1.6x_StackGuard.src.rpm
