Bob,

You can use rpm to re-install the vanilla glibc rpms since rpm is a static
binary.  I was playing around with my libs as well one day and rendered
the system rather useless.  Provided you have network connectivity you
should be able to do something to the extent of:
rpm -i ftp://redhat.mirror/path/to/glibc/rpms
